Zino Davidoff, of Davidoff Cool Water, was born on March 11, 1906 in Kiev, Russia. Zino was the eldest child of four siblings, born to, a Jewish tobacco merchant, Henri Davidoff.  It was from his father that young Zino learned the tobacco business. In Russia, at the time of young Zinos youth there was a lot of anti-Semitism and political upheaval, due to this his parents left Russia for Geneva, Switzerland in 1911. In Geneva, Zino’s parents opened up their own tobacconist shop in 1912.

After travelling to Latin America to learn about the tobacco trade, Zino returned to Switzerland around 1930. At this point he took over the families modest tobacco shop himself and turned it into a rich and thriving business. In this shop he added the first optimum storage facility for cigars.

In 1970 he teamed up with an old friend in Dr. Ernst Schneider and the Geneva shop was acquired by the Oettinger family business, from Basel. This started Davidoff into a very successful and sought after brand all across the globe.

Davidoff’s company motto was “the good life” and enjoying life’s finer pleasures, this led to the branching of the company into accessory and perfume design. In 1984 Davidoff released his first cologne, Davidoff Classic, followed two years later by his second scent, Zino Davidoff, named after himself. Cool Water, probably his most famous scent was released onto the market in 1988, since then Cool Water has become one of the best selling scents on the market today.

The Cool Water range expanded as other versions were developed such as Cool Water Game, Cool Water Deep and Cool Water Summer Fizz. The ranger continued its success and Cool Water for Women and Cool Water Frozen Perfume for Women was also released onto the market as well as others.

Davidoff Cool Water and other Fragrances from the range are made in association with perfumers Beatrice Piquet, Antoine Lie, Francois Caron, Pierre Bourdon, Nathalie Lorsen, Francis Kurkdjian, Phillippe Bousseton, Alain Astori, Pierre Wargyne and Jean Jaques.

The bottle is heart shaped and pink with a removable ring on the top, similar to the latest release, Vera Wang Rock Princess and it can be worn on the finger. This would certainly appeal to some teen girls but being in the target age group for this perfume I would definitely say it I would not choose to wear the ring or in fact the perfume.

The scent is very sweet sixteen, floral and girly and reminds me of when young giggly girls are at a sleepover party, trying on makeup and perfume. This would actually make a perfect gift for a young girl on her birthday, it is not overpowering and although it has been described as sexy and beautiful, it is a very young scent, so the target consumer age is quite a bit off, nonetheless it is a nice fragrance for the right age group.

The princess perfume has a sweet scent, very vanilla and warm, not too sweet as it has a nice blend of warm woods and musk with a touch of fruity mandarin and lady apple. Overall the perfume is a nice choice for a daughter or niece as a gift and it is long lasting with a soft dry down.

It is suitable for everyday wear in any season and reminds me of school dances and first dates, a slightly young and innocent perfume but only for the most feminine teen girls, if your daughter is not fond of the color pink, she probably will not want this scent.

Vera Wang Princess makes a great gift for a young teen, if you want a slightly more mature version you can try Vera Wang Rock Princess which is more on target for the intended age group, while rock princess is still a floral, fruit scent, it has a darker base, for the rock and roll girls and the black bottle will appeal to both age groups. The bottle also comes with a nice rock style ring.
