Sarah Jessica Parker’s perfume “Lovely” is one of the bestselling perfumes for women over the last few years, I think it was first released in 2005 and is her debut scent. While I am not always a fan of celebrity endorsed perfumes, Lovely perfume is actually pretty lovely. I was surprised if I am honest as I can be particular about what perfumes I like in the bottle, let alone on my skin and while SJP’s Lovely perfume is not one I would personally wear (being so stuck in my own gucci/dior haze) I can easily see the appeal it has for many women of all ages.
Is Lovely Perfume really Lovely?
I would describe this perfume as a pretty but personal fragrance, its feminine without being overly so, it has very good lasting power and a subdued quality, it doesn’t waft for miles or leave a long trail of fragrance behind you (a good thing in my opinion) it won’t choke everyone around you but anyone who gets up close to you will be able to catch the delicate, woody scent and light muskiness of this Eau de Parfum.
The most popular perfumes are usually light, they don’t overwhelm and are subtle but appealing, this makes sense because for a perfume to appeal to a wide audience it can’t really have a hugely distinctive and powerful aroma, most of the bestselling perfumes for women, for example, are not hugely feminine and could actually be worn by either men or women. A good example of this is CK one, a long time bestseller for both men and women. Lovely Perfume has that same appeal, a perfume that appeals only to women does not really make a lot of sense since most of them are marketed to appeal to the opposite sex. This is not to say that you should never choose a bold fragrance, wear whatever makes you feel great but if you are looking for a subtle scent that you can wear anywhere, anytime then Lovely pretty much fits the bill.
