Donna Karan of DKNY perfume, was born in Forest Hills, Queens, New York on October 1948. Donna grew up with her mother and stepfather in Woodmere, Long Island. Her beginnings had laid a perfect path for her to become the fashion icon she became, as her stepfather was a tailor and her mother was a model.

She attended Hewlett High School and after graduating in 1966 went on to attend the renowned Parsons School of Design in 1968 for two years. While attending Parsons, Donna got part time work with designer Anne Klein. Donna Karan left Parsons to work full time at Anne Klein and after only two years she was promoted to Associate Designer. Not long after this, Donna was again promoted to Head Designer, at the young age of 26.
Donna remained head of the design team at the New York fashion house until 1989. She then set out on her own and founded Donna Karan New York. Continuing her successful career she released her first Fall line, which was so successful she was named designer of the year by the Council of Fashion.

The release of the DKNY collection in 1988 saw exponential growth for her company and DKNY is now a pillar of the Donna Karen franchise.
In 1992 Donna released her first fragrance, Donna Karan for Women. This signature scent by Donna was predominantly a floral scent featuring cassia, rose, heliotrope, jasmine, Casablanca and apricot. Also notes of patchouli, amber, sandalwood and suede make the fragrance very sophisticated. Stephen Weiss designed the bottle for this fragrance and it is modelled on the female form.

Donna Karan’s first his and her range under DKNY, was the Delicious range that come in uniquely apple shaped bottles. They are inspired, like many other of her ranges, from her home city of New York, the Big Apple. All of the Be Delicious fragrance range feature notes of apple.
