The fashion house of Escada was founded in 1978 by Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley, a husband and wife team. The now famous Escada Perfume range was launched in 1990 and features a wide variety of perfumes for both men and women.

Margaretha, a Swedish born top model of the 1960’s who worked for the Jacques Fath firm was the creative force in the Escada House while her husband Wolfgang was the entrepreneur behind the venture.  The couple first met while skiing and Wolfgang remains the CEO of the firm to this day. Unfortunately Margaretha passed away unexpectedly at the age of 56.

The Escada brand was named after an Irish thoroughbred racehorse on which the couple had placed a bet.  There are now over 400 Escada stores worldwide and the unique and creative style of the fashion house was awarded a 16-page spread in the hugely popular Vogue magazine for the apparel range, gaining much exposure and popularity.

The Escada Perfume range, based in Munich, was introduced in 1990 with great success.  Described as the perfume for working professionals with a little money to spend, it is considered a world leading luxury designer perfume.

The perfumes in the range are described as a refined blend of oriental spices and floral scents; while ultimately feminine the Escada perfume range for men has also become increasingly popular.
